Southern Region Pesticide Coordinators

The Southern Extension Region Pesticide Coordinators are pesticide safety educators from the 13 southeastern states including: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. We serve as the Extension Service contact and pesticide safety education specialists in each of our respective states. We work together as a Region to coordinate programs and information pertinent to our clientele in the South. This homepage is the interface to our state programs and helps us coordinate internet and program resources.

2012 Southern Region PSE Workshop - Biloxi, Mississippi - June 6-8, 2012 at the Coastal Research and Extension Center. Elmo Collum is working with a local hotel to secure a block of rooms for meeting participants. He is planning an afternoon tour of the Crosby Arboretum for June 6. Kim Pope has been elected as the SR AAPSE Board of Directors (junior) Representative. Kim is the new pesticide safety education coordinator at LSU replacing Karen Nix. Karen left LSU to work in the private sector.
Fudd Graham has taken over as director of the Alabama School IPM Program at Auburn. An announcement will follow advertising his old position as PSEP coordinator.
Kay Harris (NCDACS) has accepted a position as Sleep Products Administrator with her agency under the Structural Pest Control and Pesticides Division.
The University of Florida (Fred Fishel) has announced an open registration for the Southern Region Pesticide Safety Educators Workshop, scheduled for June 1 to 3, 2011 in Tallahassee. Faye Golden has been elected to the AAPSE Board of Directors for the southern region. Faye is Manager of the Certification & Training Unit with the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries. Her term will run for two years. The SR senior member representative to the board is Kay Harris of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Faye replaces Fudd Graham, Pesticide Safety Education Coordinator, of Auburn University, who's term expired in 2010.
