EPA Lawn & Garden Page

EPA's lawn and garden page has resources valuable for teaching consumer pesticide safety and environmentally-friendly pest management methods. This includes a series of videos on effective lawn care methods. Some show master gardeners helping consumers - obviously EPA was sensitive to the Extension partnership we enjoy with the federal agency and it state lead agencies in developing this content.

Pesticide Information Resources

The following are resources that are useful in searching pesticide information for presentations to groups on pesticide products, pest management, and safety related areas. These are also useful resources in making pest control recommendations.

The Pest Management Information Program is part of the Southern IPM Center. This program is part of a national effort to protect producers of specialty crops at risk from regulation and limitations of integrated pest management tools.  IPM Documents published by the project support this effort. We also list various resources that could help agents develop presentations and assist with programs in pest management.  Consider completing an IPM Priorities Survey to document IPM needs in your locality.  The survey link is available after you log into trainer tools on this website.

The Virginia Pest Management Guides are a necessity in making pest control recommendations for the public. All VCE recommendations should come from these guides. Recommendations that go beyond the PMG must be cleared first with the appropriate pest management specialist (listed under the specific crop/use areas in the PMG's).

The Virginia Pesticide Product Registration Database provided by Purdue University integrates Virginia's data on currently registered pesticide products with EPA pesticide registration information concerning ingredients, sites and target pests. This website starts out with all registered products and allows you to narrow your search with a series of searches depending on your criteria. It can be used to assist in making recommendations (again, based on the PMG) and as a resource for program development.

The Pesticide Database Searches provided by Kelly Registration Systems integrates Virginia's data on currently registered pesticide products with EPA pesticide registration information concerning ingredients, sites and target pests. This website allows single criteria or multiple criteria searches.
